This Is My UpSide Down Garden it had been set up for just over two months it has cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, zucchini, male eggplant, long beans, Chinese pea pods and flowers. It is organic and I use Organic homemade pesticide and organic homemade Fertilizer. I must apologize to all of you, who have been asking me questions about my Garden I have been absent from this site for some time. I will try to answer all of your Questions. First off I must state that this is an experiment, a very fun experiment! I have tried many plant varieties some work great some do not work at all, also remember that in a small encapsulated world a little is good a lot is not necessarily better! I have Killed or shunted a few plants, but I still keep tying new things such as my secret to getting Eggplants to grow upside down. I don’t even like this food but what a beautiful plant the flowers the leaves and the fruit are exquisite, I swear women are in explicitly drawn to the male version of this plant just stand back and watch. I used inexpensive pots that already have a small hole in the bottom I cut out the unwanted plastic the whole was indented up 1/2 of an inch above the bottom of the pot which I believe provides a water reservoir in the bottom of the pot. I used plain potting soil I used little peat pots that expand when you add water to start my plants, and the diameter of the peat pots fit the whole in the bottom of the hanging pot perfectly. Today I’m talking about how to attract birds to your garden. A birdbath is a very good idea, as long as there are not too many cats about! Consider putting one in your yard. I also discuss a few useful (late winter- to early spring-blooming) ornamental plants that give nectar and, thus, attract honeyeaters. The red Japonicas shown near the birdbath certainly bring in the honeyeating birds. Next is the fleshy succulent known as a Kalanchoe. They have nice red bells that attract honeyeaters. These are rather lower to the ground, so please consider cats when you are locating them in your garden. The Woodbine Honeysuckle (Lonicera fragrantissima) has a beautiful lemony scent. It’s fragrance is, too, a bit reminiscent of “Brut” aftershave. While not the richest source of honey, the blossoms are still appreciated by hungry honeyeaters when there is not too much food about. It is quite a good bush that blackbirds will nest in, as well. Almond trees have pretty showy blossoms and nectar enough to attract quite a few visitors each day. …..

envirosponsible.com This video shows how a rain barrel water diverter can be set up on any downspout. There’s only one point of access into the barrel, and that’s the hose coming from the diverter. When the barrel’s full, the water has no where else to go except up the hose and back down the downspout. If you like the way your downspout is getting rid of the water from your house then this kit will work great for you. Barrels fill very quickly. This diverter kit is a like an insurance policy, especially when you’re on vacation. There’s no way for the barrel to overflow and flood your basement while you’re gone or sleeping.
