Get a miter saw, its a hand held tool that is used to put edges on things. anyway you set it for a 1/4 inch and actually cut out a line in the wall to put your wires in then just tape and float the wall, (or you could use caulking) repaint.I did this for my entertainment wires and also for the speaker wires though out my condo, and it was pretty simple, I did it in a day.
Lowe’s and other home stores of the like have these flat things that look like a runner, that are hollow for putting the cords into.
